National projects will maximize investment on a large scale for FN, Inuit and/or Métis, such as bursary and scholarship funds for health career students, data collection and research, development of core competencies and standards for allied healthcare workers, cultural competency of post-secondary health education curriculums and programs, evaluation and research.

- CERAH: The Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health (CERAH) was established at Lakehead University in 1992. The Centre brings together professionals, educators, researchers, students, caregivers and older adults in a collaborative effort to learn more about the aging process and its relation to health and well-being.

- NNEP: Established in 1986, the Native Nurses Entry Program (NNEP) at Lakehead University is a nine (9) month access program that provides the necessary academic and self-development skills required to enter and successfully complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program. Students successful in completing the NNEP program are guaranteed entry into Year One (1) of the Lakehead University BScN program.
