In 2009-2010 two grant programs were available to the NAN First Nations communities:
1. The NAN Health Careers Day Grant Program - under which NAN First Nations communities had the opportunity to receive a $1,600 grant to coordinate and offer a one day health careers promotion event in their communities.
2. The NAN Health Careers Project Grants - through which NAN communities, Tribal Councils, affiliated organizations and secondary schools that serve NAN students, had the opportunity to receive a $7,000 project grant to plan and implement a multi-day health careers promotion project.
Through an open application process, a total of 5 communities were awarded the $1,600 grant, and a total of 5 communities/organizations received the $7,000 grant. All 10 projects were successfully completed by the end of March 2010. Participant feedback was positive and plans are underway to offer the grant program again in the 2010/2011 fiscal year.
