Since entering into a Contribution Agreement with FNIH for NAN’s allocation of the IIHCP funding for 2008/2009, two community based funding initiatives have been rolled out:
- The NAN Health Careers Day Grant Program – an opportunity for up to ten (10) NAN communities to receive $1,000 to coordinate and offer a one day health careers promotion event;
- The NAN Allied Health Professions Awareness Camp Program – an opportunity for up to four (4) NAN communities, Tribal Councils, affiliated organizations and secondary schools that serve NAN students to receive a $10,000 grant for the planning and implementation of an allied health careers awareness camp.
A total of ten projects have been approved for funding for the 2008/2009 fiscal year. The funded projects are currently in various stages of completion; all projects will be completed by the end of February 2009.
It is anticipated that these funding initiatives will be offered again during the 2009/2010 fiscal year.
